how long before you can work after filing?

What do I tell potential employers? Could I begin work within 2 weeks? 1 month?? Or do you need to wait for 1-129 to get approved?

If that was H1 transfer, start date can be the day that USCIS received the petition.
If that was not H1 transfer, you can't work til H1 gets approved.

no one can tell how long it will take H1 to be approved. Could be 2 weeks, could be a month, could be longer.

If it is transfer H1 , then as soon as you have proof of application reached USCIS or receipt... you can start working to company.... rest of the time depends on how much you want to delay or employer in demand ( in need )
