I am from a middle eastern country and I did participate in some protests and arrested and beaten by police several times
I am in USA now on b1b2
however , I have no papers or evidence to prove what happened to me and my government will not let me get any papers about it
my country is stable now (no civil war) but anyone who protest or talk freely is punished or killed
my few questions regarding asylum :
1-do I qualify for asylum in USA ?
2-not having any paper evidence .. does that lower my chances of acceptance ?
3- (I entered US 2 times on b1b2 .. first time was in 2014 .. then I traveled to other countries as a visitor then I returned to US 3 months ago but never returned to my country since I left in 2014)
does this make me not eligible for asylum because I did not file asylum within 1 year from my original entry in 2014 ?
or they count the 1 yr since the last admission (which is 3 months ago) ?
4-is hiring an attorney a must ? or I can do it by myself ? do the majority of asylum seekers hire attornies or just file it alone ?
5-what is the average of attorney cost from A to Z till the end of all the process till getting a green card ?
6-can the asylum officer deny me in the first interview ? or the outcome of this first interview is either approval or referring to court ?
7- what happens to me if officer denies at first interview ? deportation immediately ? or how long does this take ?any hope after officer denial ?
sorry for very much questions
and thanks for taking the time to answer me .. I appreciate your help .
