Hi,

This is my first H1B petition which is approved.
I have my I129 approved from oct 2005 till may 2008. I am planning to go for Visa stampin in May 2006, which means that on this visa i will have only 2 years (May 06 to May 08). In future can i get 4 more years of extension on the same approval ? or will i get only 3 years ?

In general how is the 6 years calculated, is it based on actual visa stamping date or I129 approval dates ?

Regards,
Kiran.

You can PHYSICALLY stay in the US for 6 years with H1. visa stamp is just entry pass to the US, and does not dictate 6 years limit.
Regarding visa stamp validity, it depends on what approved letter says., but each extension can not exceed 3 years, so that you can get 3 years validity at most with your stamping.
