How important is having proof of residency ties to Canada?

Hi all,

I'm an electrical engineer from the UK and I am a Canadian citizen by descent (currently in the process of applying for Proof of Canadian Citizenship). I have never lived in Canada, and previously thought I would move to Canada first if I moved to North America, or possibly work in a US/Canada border area (like Detroit-Windsor) and work using that TN-1 visa that way.

I'm just wondering, could I apply for a TN-1 status and go directly to the US from the UK? I notice some posts mention about USCIS asking about proof of ties to Canada, and I'm wondering if I didn't have any would that raise suspicion in anyway or question my 'intent'?

I apologise if this has been asked before its just almost all of the queries relate to Canadians who have, at one point, resided in Canada and not so much about a Canadian citizen by descent who has never lived there.

For TN there is absolutely NO requirement to show ties to canada or any other country, since TN allows you to live in US full-time. TN is not like tourist or student status, which does require the maintaining of foreign residence.
