How hard it is to apply AP yourself??

I know EAD is easy and simple enough and there's a lot of responses and guide on this forum on that. But How difficult is it to do AP yourself?? What is recommended Lawyer or yourself??

Has anyone done AP recently at Nebraska Center?
What docs did you attach in the app itself?

Any input is deeply appreciated.

Very easy!

Filing for AP is just as easy as filing for EAD.
Go to http://www.uscis.gov and download I-131 (it's fillable online, but I think you need Acrobat 5.0 for it). When I filed, I included the followings:

1) 2 pictures that meet USCIS requirements
2) A letter stating the reason why you need AP
3) A copy of your I-485 receipt
4) A copy of your I-94
5) A check in the amount of $110 made payable to USCIS
6) A copy of your driver's license or state ID (some mentioned in this forum that they've been RFE'ed for a color copy but I sent mine black and white and NSC took it)
7) A copy of your passport that bears your picture and other information
8) A copy of expired/valid H1-b visa

Good luck!

Thanks Japanese.
What reason did you write in the letter?? Its not an emergency in my case I just want to have it in hand for any travel.

--------- You can write ANY reason like vacation, meeting parents

6) A copy of your driver's license or state ID (some mentioned in this forum that they've been RFE'ed for a color copy but I sent mine black and white and NSC took it)
7) A copy of your passport that bears your picture and other information
8) A copy of expired/valid H1-b visa
------- You can just attach color copy of DL and first page of passport (any 2 item 678 of above will work with other mentioned documents)

**** out side the envelope write in big bold letters" Form I-131 for Advance Parole based on pending I-485

A very good question...
I think you can just submit your passport and valid or expired visa along with I-94. However, keep in mind that you may receive an RFE for a copy of state ID or driver's license.

In the meantime, I think your wife should look into the possibility of obtaining a state ID.

From immigration-law.com

.02/14/2004: New Advance Parole Application Form, I-131, and "Class of Admission" Question

Sometimes, when the government makes a change in the form, they publish it without detailed instructions. In the new form, the government added a new item in the form in Part 1, "Class of Admission." Some people enter the U.S. in one type of nonimmigrant classification and change the status to another type of nonimmigrant classification. For instance, from F-1 to H-1B, B-2 to F-1, etc. Which one people should write in? According to the immigration authorities, it is the "current" nonimmigrant classification. Thus, those who changed his/her nonimmigrant status should write the new nonimmigrant visa class in this item of the I-131 form.

It appears that this question is asked to determine whether the applicant is ineligible for I-131. In the Advance Parole context, the applicant is ineligible if he/she was or is in a J-1 exchange visitor status being subject to two-year foreign residency requirement or he/she is in exclusion, deportation, removal or recission proceedings

COA is the type of visa you used to enter in US. Like H1b or H4 or F1 etc. Never heard what Rsur is saying here but you might wantto check that site he's mentioned. Its late for me as I already sent papers yesterday

No there's no renewal of AP. Don't have 2 mention about previous AP. All that matters is your copy of 485 and other docs which are mentioned on same thread by Japanese & Ginnu. I was applying for my wife also so I added marriage certificate as well.
Hope this helps.
