this is the first time that i have to go to the embassy for h1B visa. I have been in the US a few times before but only with b1/b2 visa and have never experienced any problems, never overstayed etc.

so since this is my first time i would like to know how easy/tough it is to get H1B stamped in the consulate? What problems i might encounter?

thanks

Hi,
I think everyone will agree that these experiences vary -- depends on the location, the counselor among other things. Are you going to the consulate at your home country versus a third country? Last year, I went to Vancouver for the first time stamping. Overall it went smoothly. I got the 221(g) but after 6 days of waiting I got the visa and was able to come back to the USA. Make sure you have all the documents. And if needed talk to a lawyer before the interview.

yes it is in my country? is that good or bad?

I just wonna know when they tell you that you got the visa, in the interview day like with b1/b2 visas?

and what is 221(g)?

Sorry, there's no way to predict these things.Uusually, home country suppose to be a safer bet than the third country option. If you know anyone from your country that recently visited the embassy, then maybe you can figure out a pattern.

Here's some information about 221g: http://www.immihelp.com/visas/221grefusal/

---- you are staying in your country and you should know if it is good or bad.

-------Depends on Consulate. in India if they refuse or need any documents they inform you and you know that Visa has not been stamped. Every case is different. you are A and get H1 filed by company B and going for Visa stamping at C location and nobody has looked at your company papers or know about company background or your background and education and nobody can predict about Visa.

and what is 221(g)?
