how early should you arrive for the oath ceremony? if the letter says to report at 9:30, is there a point to coming earlier? i'm assuming the ceremony will not actually start at 9:30?

what all happens upon arrival before the ceremony starts?

Show up no earlier than 30 minutes before the ceremony as the security officers may not let you in before then. Upon arrival, an IO will collect your N-445 oath letter and verify the questions you answered and make sure its signed. The IO will also collect any old immigration documents (ex:EAD, i-94s, etc..) you have brought.

They had the time down as a full two hours before the judge showed. What a waste of time. I wouldn't go early, they pad the times a lot.
