How early should I apply for EAD Renewal ?

My current EAD expires on 20th July. How early should I apply for renewal ? Does my new EAD start from 21st July or from the day when it was approved ?
With no interim EAD's I want my new EAD to make it before my current one expires.
Per the USCIS, 6 months in advance. It is better to renew it today because the fees may be increased to almost double soon (after April, 2nd) and there are many delays those days. The new one will be effective from the day of approval not from the expiration of your current EAD.

I agree with you and it also depends on what service center you have applied your extension. so for I noticed that Texas service center is running slow and it is taking anywhere from 3-4 months to approve EAD. in some case I did see that they approved EAD in earlier times. I applied it in VSC and I got is approved with card received in 62 days.
