How do you stop worrying about your case :-)

Everyone,

So as some of you know that my case has been pending to since last 2days with 'USCIS will send you written notification of decision" state. Mine was a very straight forward case no traffic ticket, no extended travel issues, no crime\arrest ( as clean as possible record, with only 'issue' being my divorce though I thought that should not matter since I filed based on LPR since last 6 yrs) and All I heard was 'I need to review your application for completeness and then send you decision and oath letter via mail'

I know I'm not supposed to contact USCIS before at least 30 days..wondering if there's anything I can do if officer made decision etc or push them to make decision faster? I see no logic on them holding my case and not approving right away..mine is a very very simple case.

Anything I can do before these 30 days are over? As you can tell, I'm going nuts worrying about it! :)
 
Occupy your time with something that takes your mind off of your case. You may think you should be approved quickly since you have a simple case, but the approval process takes time. Be patient, you'll get your oath letter before you know it.

My interview appointment was de-scedhule three times plus my case was not a traightforward one. I know
it is stressful since I was once in that seemingly indefnitte loop. But once it drag on, you will get used to it.
All endurable will have to be undured. I still managed to trian and finish a triathlon (not iron distance) during that period
after running several marathon in previous years

So if you don't anything else that occupy you, I suggest you start to train for a half marathon (13.1 miles). It is much easier
than your immigration marathon

They have 120 days to make adecision after your inicial examination.

Hi Wave, I should have clarified. when I say my GC was thru ex. it was not based on marriage. my ex applied for GC for both of us together via employer and I got it as 'immediate family' part of petition hence my GC was never conditional to being with. we were married for ~8 yrs after GC came so I would be very very surprised if they are holding my application for that check.

Be prepared for shocking news. When you contact USCIS after 30 days they will tell you to contact after 90 days. They can issue a SR service request after 90 days from the date of interview. That is the rule position. Nothing stops you from writing to your IO/DO. Whether they will take any action is uncertain. You could approach your Senator/Congressman. Nothing to do but wait or run half or full marathon.

My interview was done on 5/18 and I got N-652 with same response as you. May be same officer interviewed both of us.

My wife's interview was done same time too. She was given congratulations letter. Today she has received her oath letter while I haven't. For GC, I was the primary.

So, all in all, don't worry.
 
Thanks Dhai, it helps to know that. Please let us know when you recv your oath letter, I'll do the same.
 
I see, i don't think you should worry about it at all just give time and your oath letter will come.

hang on dude...just check your mails regularly.

As Bob suggested, concentrate on something else like sports, take a small trip etc. There is no point in just worrying especially when your case is so straight forward.
 
While I do want to get naturalized and I'm excited about it, I'm in no rush. It'll happen when it happens. The green card process was so long, so stressful, full of so many steps any of which could easily mean the end of the road for me, this is nothing compared to it.

It's just a letter printed on yellow paper that some people get. It tells you what to bring to your interview. My case is very straight forward so they just asked me to bring state issued identification such as my driver's license.

Some people may get asked to bring proof of divorce, or arrest information, etc.

I recd YL as well before interview, it just asked for DL, which I took during interview. Other then passport, DL and GC officer did not ask for anything. (I took all ALL docs anyways for interview starting from my high school marksheets etc -- talk about being over preapared :))...she didn;t ask for any other doc at all though.

This forum has been really helpful. I'll keep my fingers crossed and try to take my mind away from it.

Why worry? Even if denied, you'll still have your GC. And you won't be denied, because you have no criminal history or other issues to disqualify you (unless there's something you're not telling us about, like you registered to vote or have extensive travel outside the US).

I personally believe one is likely to become very worried if denied for citizenship. You can say millions of PRs
just hold GC and never apply for citizenship for their whole life. That is true but they are happy because they never intend to apply and most of them simply think GC=citizenship except for lack of right to vote. But once you apply for citizenship
but get denied, you would realize the GC is not really that safe and this immigration marathon is not over yet without citizenship. So one can become very worried.

Of course, it depends on people. Some are not worried at all if N400 is denied. Some are not even worried even if GC
is to be lost. But fo rgreat many, worry is inevitable if citizenhsip application is denied regardles of risk to GC
 
agree with WBH, I'm one of the people who would worry a lot if for any reason it was denied. Specially when my case is straight forward one(at least I think so :))).

Great comment, cfiler! I'm sure that must be true for all, or virtually of us. It's certainly true for me.
