I was an F-1 student, and returned to my home country every year, and finally left after the US after my OPT year to do my Master's in Europe; i.e., I have a good record to show that I do not intend to stay on in the US. Since leaving, I have gone back twice on a 10-yr multiple B2 visa, once for a family reunion (3 weeks), and then to see my boyfriend (3 weeks + 1 week delay because of the Icelandic volcano.)
I am almost finished with my classes, and since I am allowed to write my thesis anywhere, I would like to go back to the US so that I can be closer to my boyfriend. My only concern is that since my master's admission letter does not state that I have to be present in Europe for my thesis, that the immigration officers will not see that I intend to leave the US in 6 months and return to my home country. I am planning to visit my boyfriend for a week, but hoping that they will give me 6 months validity on my I94 so that I can stay longer.
I read somewhere that the default validity for a B2 entry is 6 months, but there's no way to be sure. Does anyone have ideas on how I should go through immigration?
