How credible is the information given by TSC reps?

I just called and got through a rep. who didn't seem very happy. She told me that my security checks are still pending. I have confirmed it twice (through Infopass and phone call) and I was told that everything has been cleared. During Infopass I was specifically told that my security checks were cleared twice, once in Dec 04 and again in April 07. My case was transferred to TSC in March 07.

I mentioned that I was previously told that my security checks have been cleared. She said that they were cleared in the Eastern Region but they needed be cleared again. I told her that I was told my security checks were cleared in April 2007. She said she doesn't see anything and hung up the phone.

I don't know who to believe now

I am in exactly same boat. Called TSC just now and got a somewhat unhappy rep who told Security Checks pending. I don't understand how its pending when earlier I have been told its clear. Also was told your case was recently transfered in Mar and fairly new when actually have been waiting for almost 6 years... Seemed in a hurry to hang up...

Dont worry about, just keep your finger crossed, god is always great, we have suffered a long journey, now this is the end of the tunnel.

We will definately see some light in next couple of weeks. We have whole month of June 2007, where the PD will remain the same.

From personal experience I can tell you that phone updates from Service Reps are unreliable at best. I have had times when the updates were correct while at other times they just fed me anything to get me of the phone. I would believe the Infopass information more than a phone update.

I will soon be posting a security check email that I had complied a way back. This includes several threads that contain information on various ways to follow up on cases. It is a compilation of porblematic cases that got resolved. This should help you in some way.

One very quick way to figure out if name check is TRULY pending is to call FBI. There is no wait time at all and the reps are generally friendly. My experience is posted here: http://www.shorttext.com/i4cbn

I called TSC Yesterday using POJ method. I asked about my I485 pending status, she is telling me that, there was a missing FP notice. I told her that I received FP notice and gave my FP on May 9th. I never moved from my current Address, My lawyer also not moved from his address. There is junk update on my case on May 15th. She told me that, they are not downloaded fp from FBI. She told me like they were working to download fps for pending applications. I get confused with FP download terms like that, and then I called FBI to know about my FP status. They confirmed that they sent results back to USCIS on same day.

In my case I explicitly asked about FP but before ending the call I used these exact words "Can you please tell me if anything else is pending related to my case?" The rep almost seemed reluctant to tell me the truth but she did after a moment's hesitation and blurted out that my name check was indeed pending but that is a different department and they don't talk to the public.

In my cases, USCIS is always consistent since Dec 2004.
Whenever and where ever (VSC/TSC), I called, received answers like Name Check Pending, Background Check Pending, Security Checks Pending, Security Checks Clearance Pending. So, I am sure USCIS is consistent and credible for me. and hope so in future.

I have tried to use the poj method by dialing 800# then 1,2,61 > SRC Recipt # then 1,3,4 but I was promptly got to the national service center and got useless info. Can anyone tell me how I can get to the TSC?

I think you missed another "2" in there:

In my experience and I fully concur with Saras that the CSR at the service centers are just dumb and this holds good even for some Immi Officers. Like in one of the posts above they give bull to you and when U politely tell them that U have heared it otherwise,then they give more bull and try to shut U up. All these CSRs do is "whiningly take the calls and give incorrect info and they know very well that they can bluff whatever they want and can't be held responsible. What a shame !!

Whenever I need any credible info on my case, I call my senator and congressman and get the info from them. Hopefully they are not BSing them.

I have seen, some here get conflicting info... For those... just believe the info U got from Congressional/Senator enquiry ... all other take it for what it is worth... Don't loose sleep over it.

Once U find out who is yr congressman/senator, call their office and explain yr case,provide them with yr case details such as A#,Recipt #,Receipt Date , which service center etc., etc., and they can do an enquiry for you thru their liason. In my case I got back reply in 3 weeks.

I have an infopass appointment for tomorrow morning. Let's see if I can get any positive news from it.

I agree the TSC reps are usually dumb. You need to call 5 times on 5 different dates and talk to 5 different CSRs and maybe then you can get a sense of what is the reality

Just came back from the infopass appointment. The officer looked up on her computer and said that my name check was cleared and unless I used aliases (which I don't), this is not an issue. In fact, she said that the system shows that my case is waiting for adjudication and that only happens when nothing else is pending. The officer took her time and seemed nice and genuine. Very hard for me to believe that she was bluffing me just to get rid of me (The office was practically empty). So fingers crossed and yes, take whatever the TSC CSRs says, with a pinch of salt.

I think its best to get an infopass appointment if you have been told that NC is pending, since that might give you a more accurate information.
