How about sueing Lou Dobbs??

Thanks again or1or2 :)

I am also attaching the petition as a text attachment in case people don't have Word.
Also note in the final draft I added (in Part 1)
--------
The contributions of Indian-Americans which is exemplified by the late Kalpana Chawla and other hard-working Indian-American NASA engineers (who incidentally were not hired due to lower wages), the entrepreneurial skills of Vinod Khosla who co-founded Sun Microsystems and Sabeer Bhatia who founded hotmail go completely unmentioned.
--------
Many of the skillful Indian-American entrepreneurs have set up shop in America “Creating American jobs” – a point which is completely glossed over by Lou Dobbs as well as other CNN programs. By all accounts America wouldn’t have become the centre of the Internet revolution and unemployment in US wouldn’t have dropped to historic lows in the first place, but for the Indian-American contribution.

Kudos rcetc

Kudos to your efforts. Please see if you can accommodate this as well. Thanks!

Mr. Dobbs's coverage on such crucial topics is certainly biased because it doesn't report on the other side of the story. And due to a covert, implied bias on topics such as "Exporting America," "Borderless America," a strong anti-immigrant tenor is very much evident. If it is "Money-Line," then Mr. Dobbs doesn't even represent the economics involved behind such topics of interest, rather, he merely trumpets the issue with a seething anti-immigrant rhetoric. We must admit that Mr. Dobbs's coverage on Money-line is devoid of micro/macro economics and seems to be more like a diluted version of Mr. O'Reilly's show at FNC. If Mr. Dobbs cannot add gravitas to his program by delving deeper into the economics realm, either CNN should change its host or the name of the program itself. Failure to carry an in-depth analysis of the business and economics in his program is one of the reason why he takes recourse to much inflammatory topics. It would behoove well for Mr. Dobbs and CNN if the rhetoric can be toned down and an honest attempt be made to present the program with some real economic number$, instead of resorting to soporific litany of verbose prose on immigrants and Indians in general.

We will be constrained to create an awareness on this issue and may move the offices of the Indian media to seek for a boycott of CNN within India as well as within the Indian community in the United States, if CNN does not redress this grievance of ours, especially with regards to Mr. Dobbs's partisan coverage.

report on I-485 situation

why not we send him letters asking him to do a story on I485 issue. Yesterday, he clearly mentioned that he is against illegal immigrant and not against the legal immigrants. He may be willing to do a story on the plight of I485 cases (especially TSC cases).

I agree with all the above. My only concern is we are getting a lot of blame as Indians, because of some off-shore companies misusing L-1B visas.

We came here on H-1B's and we paid same taxes as any other American. But these off-shore companies are bringing people to US on L-1B visas claiming as intra-company transfers. But after coming to US they are using the L-1B visa people to do consulting at clients like H-1B visa holders and not paying any taxes.

A L-1B visa holder should get his salary back in India and will get only expenses here as long as he is working at his employer's office. In reality they are working at different employer for less hourly rate and not paying any taxes. I don't even have a problem to work for 20 dollars, if I don't have to pay taxes:):)

For example if 10 people got laid off and at the same time 10 L-1B's get those jobs (they are not supposed to do consulting), US is not only loosing 10 jobs they are loosing taxes on these 10 people also.

A normal American can not distinguish between a H-1B or L-1B. They just think that all these Indians are bringing the prices down and taking their jobs.

I'm not against L-1B's, I'm only against for not paying taxes. Because of them we who pay taxes are getting blame.

No hard feelings...Please correct me if I'm wrong.

poongunranar, your suggestion would be a valuable addition to the petition. I will incorporate it. Thanks.

pa55, if you follow Lou Dobbs program regularly you will know he is a turn-coat. One day he does a program on illegal immigrants, the next day he talks about H1 holders and Indian-Americans and also Chinese-Americans. Bottomline(I think) he is against any non-white immigration to the US.

sairam4599, I don't know too much about L1 visa holders. But of course an ordinary American can not distinguish a L1/H1/greencard/or even an Indian-American citizen. Such programs (like Lou Dobbs) which exagerrates the threat posed by Indian-American is bad for us all - irrespective of our status.

tr22 that is a valuable link that you posted man!! Great to see others agreeing with our point of view.

I will try to get the petition online by tomorrow(the whole of yesterday in office was spent writing this petition :( :( ).So I have some pending office work now.

thanks for the effort

let us do it as fast as we can and also put this link on other boards which i will go ahead do

thanks tombaan that would be a great help

please go ahead and take care of getting support from the other boards. Hey, let us never be skeptical of petitioning. It is slow, but works. It is like lighting a candle, than complaining about darkness. So we will go ahead.

Good effort guys,

CNN is being anti-Indian in many ways for long time. And I guess this is one part of it.

Any how, as it is purely Indian problem as I understand there is a website http://www.indiacause.com/ that hosts such petitions and drives subscribers to sign and send petitions to CNN et all.

They were successful in other cases. You may consider this site to host it. I'm not sure how to contact them though.

rcetc and TSC friends,

I haven't read the entire thread. But Looks like TSC forum is firing on all guns. Go ahead with what you think right.

tombaan, thanks a lot for publicising this thread in other forums. :) :) I truely appreciate it.

I have to still see how I can incorporate the changes proposed by poongunranar. But by tomorrow, I promise you will have the peition.

rk4gc, I heard about indiacause.com during their campign against "Naked Durga" published in some Toronto newspaper. Though I personally don't beveive too much that "Naked Durga" was any big issue - I notice that they succeeded in the petition. I e-mailed them today morning about our petition- but haven't heard back from them as yet. Do any of you have some membership in indiacause.com and can get them to at least see our petition? It might be a good idea to have them host our petition. If I don't hear from them till tomorrow -I will go ahead and put out petition in www.petitiononline.com.

petitiononline.com has also succeeded in getting an apology from CNN for potrayal of islam after 9/11 - you can find it in their website.

If you want to include mine, you can put it anywhere close to concluding lines of the petition, because it is pretty generic. Else, don't worry about it.:)

rcetc,

They do take some time, like couple of days. Once I sent an email about a problem and it took two days to respond. Any ways, we can try, I'll check their website.

I think meanwhile you can post it at petitiononline.com, if they agree to support it we can point them to the petition.

Well Written.

The issue is more global and it should be Employment based Immigrants vs. CNN. But in reality, INDIA as a country is leading in that category. So Indians were attacked on CNN program, so I defend it as an Indian by signing the petition.

Thanks for the efforts. It's good that Indians voice their concerns against such hate crime promoters like Lou Dobbs than being the silent spectator and tolerant citizen.

It's Lou Dobbs Tonight

I just want to let you know that his program is not Moneyline any more.
It's 'Lou Dobbs Tonight'.
