hopeful news

As many of you know, I've posted messages about my husband's case on a few occasions. Thanks to all of you who answered my many questions, especially Gilbert. To recap, he applied in Dec. 1996, his notice date is January 1997. After years of waiting, he finally got his fingerprinting notice the last week of July.
By some miracle, I just checked his web site and it changed to "we mailed request for additional evidence...." blah blah blah.

Whatever they ask for, we'll certainly provide. I am very happy now because I know he is almost there (in my case it only took five days after INS received my "evidence" to approve).

The reason I am posting this is to let those of you know who recently gave fingerprints that in some cases it takes very little time to hear back from INS. In the case of my husband, it took six weeks!!!!!

Perhaps there is some logic to this madness after all. Perhaps they are slowly acknowledging unfairness and starting at the beginning and not in the middle. Perhaps, oh, just perhaps, people like my husband will wait significantly less than some after giving fingerprints not because they are lucky because they applied earlier.

I'll keep you posted on what they ask from him (I'm very interested myself considering he had an interview with them and has waited soooooo long).

Best of luck,
Mirela

Congratulations. As I responded in another thread the fact that he received the FP notice was a sign that they are working on his case. Just stay cool, he wil go through all this pretty soon.
Good luck

very good news, Mirela.

Keep us informed of the latest development.

We will all hope that he does not get an inadmissible notice.

Congratulation Mirela,

I am glad that your husband recieved that notice before the fiscal year ends. At least if you come up with the RFE you are assured a visa for this fiscal year. If they waited a few weeks, then your husband would have had to wait another year for the new quota.
Let's cross our fingers and hope that they request something handy.

EaglskyB, what do you mean by wait another year for new quota? I thought the BCIS issues approval as the visa becomes available without waiting a year. as we all know the visa cut off date is 11/16 fot FY 2003. i think BCIS will keep sending approval at the current rate for FY 2004?

any comment?

I do not think this is correct. A visa has to be approved before the end of this fiscal year.

Here is a case.
my RD is Dec 6th 99, I received a FP notice in july, and had them done on August 15th. in another state my friend received on the same date a FP notice, had them done on August 18th.
he has received approval and had his TD stamped the past monday. there is a 4 months window between my case and his. Will i be waiting a whole year or 4 monts?

Thanks

Agree. He will not have to wait a whole year. If his case is not approved within the quota in FY 03, he will get it by the begining of FY 04, and that could be before of the end of this calendar year.
Approvals for FY 04 wont start until President Bush signs the Presidential Determination authorizing the issuance of the 10k visas for next FYand that is expected to be soon after the start of the new FY
