Hi, question about TN Visa that I can't find an answer to

Hi, I live in Mexico, and work for an American company. The company I work for is shutting down the Mexico office, and would like me to work for them in the US. We have decided that a TN Visa will be the quickest way to go about this, as the work load they have is rather large, and I would be needed as soon as possible.

Question is, on the TN Visa employment letter, should I state that I have been working for their Mexican office for the past 5 years, or should I state that I have over 3 years experience in the field?

Thank you,
Ellen

The TN letter should merely describes the functions that you will be doing -- not what you did in the past or where you did it -- and what category of TN you are requesting. And it is written by the future US employer.

You will then present evidence that your experience and/or education qualifies you for than TN category. This is done by copy diploma/degree, letters from employers, etc, not your own words.

Thank you for the response. One new question now, how would I go about proving that I have 3 years experience in the profession?

The letters don't strictly need to be form previous employers; co-workers can suffice, as long as they can document your acivities over a certain period.

But, since you are still with your current organization, your supervisor should have no problem furnishing such a letter to cover more than 3 years.
