Straight from the horse's mouth:
1. Note: If you are not a citizen of the United States you will be required to show proof of your legal status in this country.

o Holders of a B1 or B2 Visitor's Visa are not eligible for a driver license or identification card unless a valid USCIS Employment Authorization Card and verification of an application pending for Lawful Permanent Residence is provided.
o Foreign students with an F1 Visa status must show USCIS document I-20 and verification of current enrollment in a Connecticut school.
o J1 Visa holders are required to show USCIS document DS2019.
o H1B Visa holders are required to show a valid USCIS Employment Authorization Card and an employee verification letter from a Connecticut employer.
o All applicants will be verified through USCIS for legal status before a driver license or identification card will be issued.

As well as driving and eye exam, I hope they have a spellink tist foor dis gy.

This is not a TN issue.

I actually didn't have to do either of those when I got my Texas driver's license. I basically just brought my passport with I-94 and my Newfoundland driver's license and they issued a Texas one without doing any sort of test.

Actually, I can't remember, there may have been an eye exam but there definitely wasn't a driving exam or written test.

How long ago was that? I know quite a few states that have instituted new rules, with TN holders drivers permits expiring on the same day as your TN status...meaning if you wait for the 240day rule, you could be driving with an expired DL

Last few years in New Jersey, since the 6 point requirements, I get drivers license with big red "Temp Immgr Status" on it. It expires 3 months after TN expires.
Funny, they wanted proof I lived in US, like a electricity bill. How's that for a catch 22.
