HELP: Question about EAD renew

Gurus,

I live in MA. My EAD will expire next week (4/3/03) and I applied EAD renew in February. Since it is less than 90 days, can I go to Boston INS to get an iEAD?

Let's say, if INS approved my EAD renew in May, what approve date they will use? Will they use 4/04/03 for the new EAD card? or use 5/1/03 on it?

Any suggestions? Or I have to stop working?

Thanks.

you can try in boston. I have read in this site that boston stopped honoring walk-ins.
If you cannot get interim EAD, it is unlikely that EAD will be made effective before the approval date.. i.e the regular EAD (unless there was an interim EAD0 will start nearer to the date of issue, not from the date of previous EAD expiry..

we were in the same position and were told by our lawyers we would have to stop working the day our ead expired so we had to renew our h1b - the h1b - if you put in the renewal you can carry on working whereas with the ead you have to wait until it is approved before you can work again.

What if my H-1 expired 1 year ago

I am on EAD since April 2002. My H-1 expired May 2002. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I was in the same boat. My EAD expired and had no H1, and local INS office did not issue me an EAD as 90 days were not complete.

On my third visit to local INS office (which was 88th day) they gave me an iEAD. These days they are very rigid specially for interim EADs and would not issue if 90 days are not over. You can still try. This was not in MA

My company did take me off payroll as it is illegal to work when you don't have EAD or H1 (in my case I had no H1 as 6 years have crossed). I was back on payroll after I received my iEAD.

There is no option, you just need to try and see if you can get iEAD or EAD approval in time.
