HELP! No ID, lost Alien Card n Need to file I-90 and N-400

Does your dad have his GC with him? when you guys entered the country (USA) you were minors so I'm sure there has to be some information about you two in his file, so that might be another way of finding out.

yes my dad still has his green card and no expiration date on it.

Then he might be able to get this information for your brother, I'm pretty sure there is something in his file about you guys like I said since you all were minors and entered the country with him and probably did the whole GC process with him also.

My attorney sent a copy of my copied passport from school with the alien # printed on the passport along with the stamped of i-1551 on it. It obviously worked cuz now I have an Alien Card that i will have to give up August 21 '09 when i take my Oath Ceremony.
I don't know why the Burglar took those papers, and i don't see why my dad would lie about that either, those papers were on a cabinet along with jewelry's and some cash, I assumed they just swiped it along.

The I-551 stamp has an A-number in it.
The I-551 stamp itself is a proof of being admitted as a permanent resident.
So you were in a better shape because you knew your A-number, had a copy of I-551 and you had a valid driver's license (Although I am still not clear how exactly you got one. You might have been able to get a DL without showing a green card before 9/11 but that DL would certainly have expired by the time you filed your I-90.)

In the case of your brother he does not know his A-number, does not have a copy of an old green card, does not have a copy of I-551, does not have a driver's license or a copy of it, does not have a passport, does not have a social security card or a copy of it. In fact, at the moment there is nothing, other than your father's say so, to confirm that your brother ever had a green card.

Now regarding whatever the burglar took. Apart from the actual green cards, there must have been some paperwork that your father filed in order to get those green cards: I-485 applications for you and your brother. Your father, at least at some point, should have had I-485 receipt notices and then I-485 approval notices related to your green cards. You should ask your father if he kept copies of any of that paperwork.
If he did not, as I said earlier, I suggest that he file a FOIA/PA request with USCIS and request a complete copy of his own A-file. Your brother's A-number might be in there.

hmmm i guess that's another idea, for my bro to bring my dad with him at the immigration place and my dad can show his Greencard to them, hopefully my bro's name show's up. Thanks

It was years after 9/11 before most states started requiring proof of immigration status for driver's licenses. I renewed mine about 5 years ago without such proof.

You and your brother's A# would have been linked somehow to your father's file because of how your green cards were obtained through him. If your father makes an Infopass appointment and takes his green card and your brother, they may be able to tell him your brother's A#, based on your father's A# and your brother's identifying information (passport#, date of birth, SSN).

No problem, or your dad might be able to find this out without your brother since it is something about his own son and in his own file, but if they both go together then probably even better. You just have to call Immigration Services and find out where your dad can go to do this and such.

I found out what my A# was when i requested a copy of my record from school, and it it was a photocopy of my passport, and in that copy of my passport it shows my A# and the stamped of i-1551. Unfortunately the school my bro went did not copy the page where his A# was on it nor the Stamped where the i-1551 was on it. And yes i've renewed my license 3 times already infact and NEVER did ask me for my Alien card to renew it. I actually got myself a Florida License now, and I was able to turn in my Hawaii license for Florida license but this time with only 1 year then it would expired and it has a "TEMPORARY" red stamped on it. But as soon as I got my Alien card, i went back to DMV and was able to replace it with a new one with 8 yrs expiration date on it and the "TEMPORARY" stamped was not in it anymore.
And NO, my dad has no other copies, so i guess my bro can just try to bring my dad along with him and his Greencard to the immigration place.

oh i hope to god this works so the family can have peace of mind soon. We'll definitely have to try that.

Here in AL where I live right now (for the last 2 years) I had to show my Green Card to get a license, and it has an FN for "Foreign Nationality" at the bottom under my pic and my signature also the expiration date on my license is the expiration date of my green card. I was a Florida resident for a loooong time and I never had anything like this on my license so it is clear it is a state thing.

It's I-551 ... if you talk to USCIS about I-1551 they may not know what you are talking about or it could be something different entirely.

oh hahaha sorry, thanks for the correction and let me pull my photocopy passport out and see it for myself, cuz all along i keep sayin i-1551 lol.

Your father even needs your brother's A# for his own (your father's) N-400, as the N-400 asks for A# of all children.

I don't think they would deny your father's N-400 because of the lack of your brother's A#, but it could possibly cause some delays if it's not listed.

Could there be a simple answer: just call 1-800-375-5283 and tell
the customer service you lost your GC and forget your A# and ask
them, to look it up by giving them your birthday, name etc.

True he won't lose anything trying that!

That's a good point. At least it's free and fast, although they might not provide an answer.
