Hi,all.

I am going to apply GC in April next year through political asylum, I plan to DIY application without any lawer, what's your idea? Should I hire a lawer ?

Any kindly suggestion is appreciated.

A lot hangs in the balance of a Asylum case, get a good attorney, your future depends on it.

GC application is straightforward. Do it yourself and save a couple of thousands. Follow the instructions on the USCIS website and you will be okay.

Is it true that officers give higher priority to GC applications that have lawyers? In my opinion, it is a wast of money to hire a lawyer. I noticed that this forum people know much much more than lawyers. I wish I had known this forum long time ago.

Don't waste your money on a lawyer. Like it's already been said, GC application is pretty straightforward. After you've completed it, make sure that you triple checked it though. If you have any questions, just ask here.

Also, one key piece of information. For documents with your signature, DON'T send photocopies. Send the original. I know of 3 people whose GC process got delayed due to submission of photocopied documents ( with their signature ).

Thank you Miss_chang. I will follow your advise.

Should I send a copy of a certified birth certificate and a proof of one year physical presence? My friends told me that those documents are not required..is that right?
