Help! I don't know what is going on....

Hello,

Here is my dillema - I had an AOS interview in the begining of April in Garden City, NY. I was told by the immigration officer that everything is fine and I'll get the card in the mail within 3 weeks. Well - I didn't. I submitted at least 3 requests for information on my case, went 2 times to my DO in NYC - no one knows anything and can't give me information. The people at the NYC office told me that they have submitted a request to the Garden City office through their internal system (whatever it is), but they never got an answer, and they also don't have access to the Garden City office files (which is pretty strange, considering they are both NY offices) so they can't see what's going on. I called the Garden city office - of course they told me to go to the NYC office if I needed information. I don't know the name of my interview officer (stupid of me for not writing it some where, but I was so nervous that day - I totally forgot).
With all that said - can anyone tell me is there something I can do to find out what is going on...I didn't get a stamp in my passport and i didn't get an approval notice or welcome letter. My last LUD date is August 2004 - since then i had fingerprints taken, I received an interview notice - the online info never showed this.
Please tell me what can I do. I don't want to just sit and wait. It took me 3 years to get to the interview...I don't want to spend 3 more in waiting for the card to arrive. If I go to an immigration attorney, will they be able to help me?
Thanks in advance.

?

What does your case status say? Call customer service and put in an inquiry regarding your case or go to info pass and make a appointmnet now and inquiry about your case now!. The lawyer can't do a dam thing except take your money. Send it to me instead and I will make the infor pass appointment for you. I will only chage $500 to make that appointment

Tony28270,

I went to the DO 2 times(with infopass appoitments, which I scheduled for myself for free ;) , thanks for offering your services anyway) and I also called customer service and put in an inquiry regarding my case 3 times - none of them gave any result. My case status was last updated on 24/8/04 says:
********
Your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status was received at this office on February 25, 2004. It is taking between 120 and 180 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete.
*******

I also know that lawyers can't do much more, but I was just wondering if there was anything else I can do before getting the congressman involved.

Thanks LucyMO,
This is what I will do next.

Like Lucy said, get the congressman involved. They have access to 2nd level officers (whatever that is). These officers have access to more menu options on their computers than the ones who sit on the window. In Dallas, the inquiry through a congressman's office takes about 10 days. I am not sure about your DO, but it should be similar.

Did anyone ever requested congesswoman Maloney's help?

Hello again.

As LucyMo suggested - my husband and I wrote a letter to congresswoman Maloney, which she received a few days ago (we had it delivered with delivery confirmation). I wanted to ask if anyone ever wrote to her in regards to immigration problems...and did she help? We are planning on calling her office next week, but before that I wanted to find out if she ever helps people or not.
If anyone ever contacted her - please let me know what happened.
Thanks

hello,
just wanted to share that we received a letter from congresswoman Maloney, saying that she'll do whatever she can to help, and also a copy another letter that she sent to USCIS. So lets see what happens next...
