Today I checked my status on line for EAD renewal and it said this:

Application Type: I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Current Status:

On April 16, 2003, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case. The notice explains in detail what additional material is needed. If you have questions about the notice, what is required, or if 14 days have passed and you have not received the notice, Please contact the service center where you submitted your application during business hours.

Could you guys please guess what kind of additional info/evidence would be required for EAD renewal? I am really worried as I am working on EAD and the present EAD will expire on June 20th. Did any body got his/her EAD renewed after RFE? Please post your opinions.

My notice date is 03/11/03 at Vermont center.

Thanks in advance.

Delliwala.

When I applied for EAD for the first time, even I had got an RFE for the pictures. It could be the same for you.

GL,

Thanks!

Thanks for your post 485GCCase. Hope it is the same for me as well.

It happend with my wife's first time EAD also. The RFE was for the photographs. They were not complying with INS standards. For EAD, mostly the RFE is regarding photographs. Don't worry.

I had the same problem, pictures.
Also, it is important to note that the "90 days counter" to be able to request a temp EAD is reset to zero after an RFE.

I had the same probelem when I applied for EAD for the first time, the photographs didnt meet the INS standard but when I applied for EAD renewal in Feb 2003 it came in one month, dont worry I am sure RFE will be for photographs

Hello Shirubio..

Whats is
" it is important to note that the "90 days counter" to be able to request a temp EAD is reset to zero after an RFE."

Please explain.
Thanks
Naani

Thanks Shirubio for posting the new information about 90 day window.

When you apply for EAD and didn't receive the approval within 90 days, the you can get a temporary EAD from local INS office. I think they issue it for 3 months period or so. If an RFE is has been issued on your EAD, then you don't have to wait for 90 days to get an temporary EAD. You can goto local INS office immediately and get it. This is very useful for renewal EAD's, when the original EAD has expired.

EAD RFE reset 90-day interim clock ??

Could you provide the INS source for this quote of interim EAD immediately upon RFE on EAD renewal issued? Thanks.

About the pictures. I tried 2 stores and, despite their claims to be specialists in INS pictures, the pictures which had shadows and quite dark. This is something INS does not accept. I had to ask both stores for a refund.

Finally I shot the pictures myself and use Photoshop to get final results and COSTCO print them for me. While costing just a fraction of what the store was charging(for family size of 3), the pictures got acepted the very first time.

Give it a shot!

online really works?

does online status shows for EAD renewal , because my case is same, i did applied for renewal on 3.13.2003 but there was no change in Online status.

Just curious !!!!!

How about others?

Yes, ..... online reports status of EAD renewal. My EAD was due to expire on 3/13. .... online reported approval of EAD renewal on 11th March only, when I was already mentally prepared to go off payroll etc. etc.

Like a good movie, they believe in maintaining suspense until the last moment.

Don't do it .... in future... it is not acceptable and 'may be treated as fraud'

If your RFE is for the photos, goto a photo center, where they take INS style photographs. Check when they take pictures, they have a light behind you which flashes at the same time the camera flash goes on. That way the shadows are avoided in INS style photographs. I went to couple of stores like Walgreens where they use polaroid camera and take the photos manually with a white screen behind. This setting always results in shadows in the background.

When you get the proper photos, goto some store and make 16 copies (1 sheet) for each person using kodak picture maker. It costs you 6-7 bucks, but you can use them in future for any BCIS related appliations. I did that and that's why I am suggesting.

but don't your photos have to taken in the last six month ? for all INS application.

I have submitted the same photos i had submitted at the time of applying for EAD the first time. If the photos were acceptable the first time, I hope it will be acceptable now while renewing EAD card.

CVS with 1 hour Photo

CVS with 1 hour Photo center is the best bet. They have Kodak digital camera and Kodak picture maker as well. The guy at CVS took several pictures until we were completly satisfied. Then he printed few sheets after enlarging/reducing the picture to get to the correct size. I had the INS specification sheet with me with the box cut out of it. Used it as template to make sure the image (entire face) fits into the box.

It costed me just 7 bucks for 16 pictures.
