help!!!lost my GC and reaplied last week, won't recieve in next 2 weeks, but need to fly to British next monday, fortunately, I have re-entry permit and passport, can I go only with the reentry permit and passport? thanks for quick suggestion!!!

It is a slippery slope. The law requires that Greencard holders must keep it with them at all times, so that they can produce it upon request by an Immigration officer. Some times they ask; Others they may not. Also it depends on the IO you encounter.

Advice: If I were you, I would travel with the passport along with RP + the reciept that you have reapplied your greencard. Normally, when you request any benefits from the USCIS they give you a reciept. If you have this reciept and show the IO at port of entry and you explain to them that you lost your greencar, I think that would satisty...Goodluck..

Make an infopass and they will give you a temporary card.

One does NOT need green card to enter Britain.

Britons might not allow you to enter with just a receipt.

One does NOT need green card to enter Britain. You need visa or passport holder of certain countries.

AFAIK, Switzerland is the only county in Europe that allows GC people to enter without visa, but they require physical GC. Even passport with gc stamp inside does not work.

I just came back from UK, I had to have a visa to get in. With GC and a passport. So I am not sure if they will let him in at all without a visa. Also, I thought it is not good to have a RP and a passport at the same time. It's either RP or passport.

Thanks for all, you guys are so warmhearted!
well, I have the visa stamp on my passport to Britan, what I am considering is the way coming back, is the IO officer in london going to let me step in the airplane with only RP issued by America?

Then definitely get a stamp in your passport 'Temporary evidence of admission for permanent residence..' or someting like that. The question is where would you like to receive your stamp: RP or passport? I am stil not sure about using both RP and passport. Why can't you use one document? Although, i think some people on this forum has shown both documents at airports with no questions asked.

Germany allows people to enter even without GC; only with RTD. The same with Ireland and Croatia I believe. :)

Yes--that is the ultimate us visa as far as airlines are concerned.

Yes.. You will be allowed to board a flight with your RP. Do not worry you're fine. So long you have your RP, it is acceptable document for re-entry into the States. Have a nice trip...
