hey want,
have fun in europe. you will have no problems going to amsterdam with your rtd. how do you plan to get there? i would suggest renting a car, but if you want you can take a bus, it is not expensive at all, cheaper than train. check out eurolines.com, and you can schedule your trip online.
in amsetrdam, depending on what you like to do, i wouldn't miss the Van Gogh museum, the Rijksmuseum, the rembrandt house and the anne frank museum. also, take a boat ride through the cannals, it is not expensive at all and a lot of fun. stay away from the red light district, and check out "paradiso" they may have a concert of someone you are interested to see.
check out Madurodam, it is the miniature city and beautiful gardens, the peace palace and the royal palace are a must in the hague, which is a 45 minute train ride from amsterdam.
for shopping i would recommend "the Fred" in the Hague; the Frederikheindriklaan; beautiful inexpensive jewelry among other things. The Fred is also happening with nightlife. The high dollar foreigners who live and work there (attorneys, judges, businessmen, and pretty young legal assistants [ do not recommend going with your wife]) you will find on the Fred, if you ever miss a taste of money and if you need to hear english all around you. try "The Old Jazz".
have fun, and we expect a full report of your adventures, hahhahahaa...........
oh, and don't miss berlin. we got lost driving through berlin, and everyone we asked if they spoke english, the germans abruptly said "nein". as soon as we crossed the border to holland, we felt home, as the dutch are much nicer, and eeeeeveryone there speaks english.
