Having Kid in Russia

I am a Russian in the US on a student visa. I've met a wonderful man while I was here and we are seriously considering marriage. Now, so many thoughts are going through my mind and I would like to find out a few very important questions:

First, if I get married here and successfully adjust my status, will I retain my old Russian citizenship, i.e. dual citizenship?

Secondly, my mother urges that if I marry this man and have his child that I have the baby in Russia! It's very important to her. So, if I did have the baby in Russia, what would be the procedure for bringing him/her back to the United States?

I appreciate any help and where ever possible please post links to your sources so I can read more in depth.

Thanks

Adjusting status only gives you a green card; it does not add or take away any citizenship.

You will need to register the birth with the US consulate and apply for a Certificate of Birth Abroad and a US passport for the baby, providing proof of the US citizenship of the father, proof of your marriage, along with proof that the father has physically lived in the US for at least 5 years, including 2 years after age 14.

You also should apply for a reentry permit before leaving the US to give birth. The pregnancy and post-birth issues could keep you in Russia for a long time, and if you stay outside the US for a year without a reentry permit your green card is very likely to be canceled.

You should also be aware that staying outside the US for 6+ months will risk hurting your eligibility for US citizenship.

Try to change her mind. It will be far more convenient for both you and your child to have the delivery in the US.
