I filed I-90 for name change. I haven't received the appointment letter yet. Its almost 60 days now.

I may have to go out of country for a couple of weeks. Hence, I have taken an infopass appointment to get my passport stamped. Although I do not have any appointment letter, do you think they will entertain me and stamp my passport? I am okay to wait for my GC to be changed.

Thanks

**take your I-90 filing reciept, DL, your GC, Local USCIS will stamp your passport, if never got stamp in passport also take your I-485 approval notice, show what they ask and post the experience for others .
*** you filed for name change, if the passport name and name on card matches no need of stamp you can go out and can come back with the card you are having.
**** did you paper file or Efile?
Good Luck!!

My old passport (which has expired) has my old name which matches with the name on my GC. It also has the stamp in it which I got before i got the actual GC.

My new passport has my new name. It does not have any stamping done as yet. Hence the question as to whether I can get it stamped till I get the appointment letter and new GC.

---------------if the expired passport has valid stamp then you can go and come back to US, keep both the passports stapled, new passport is for your entry to your country and the valid passport stamp or GC is for entry to US

-----take infopass and try it and post your experience
-------- FYI I know a case of lady that got her passport stamped and she got the green card with incorrect name on it, it had her last name and part of her middle name written as her surname on the card. her passport was going to expire and she got new passport (her name on expired passport and new passport is same) she took infopass for stamping in new passport with NJ local office and officer did not stamp her new passport and told her that she can file I-90 for correction on GC and officer told her that as she has GC in hand can go out and come back it does not matter if the GC has incorect name officer told her that at POE the officer is going to look a GC and A# and sid that the POE officer will see the same info on USCIS comuter what he is looking a USCIS computer system. that lady went to India and came back without any problems. for more info you need to talk with your lawyer Or Before you go out talk to CBP officer at POE where you will enter US.
