Has moving to different states in the last 5 years delayed your N400?

I have resided in the following states in the last 5 years, California, Arizona and now in Texas. Does anyone have had their IL delayed because uscis did not have all the files in their office? I am worried that is the reason why I have not received my IL is because my files were not routed to Texas from Arizona.

I know that the NBC sends the N400 to your DO, But I am worried that my other file that contains my other immigration info was not sent to them.

Its been 3 months since my fp and have not heard anything? any advice on what to do would be appreciated?

I doubt that is the reason causing the delay. Maybe your background/name check is pending. did you call USCIS sencond level IO?

Also please post your timeline

Ideally there should be one A-file for an applicant. Even if there are multiple files, they are not because the applicant resided in different states.

3 months is not an unusual delay. Many people are still waiting after 5 or 6 months.
For someone in Dallas, three months is an unusual delay. The entire process from application to oath is currently taking 3-4 months in Dallas for straightforward cases.

I was FP 3 months ago and name check/background check cleared 2 months ago. I called and talked to second level IO and he said i am in que for interview.

my n400 interview was on may 30 2009 in detroit waiting for oath which will be in grand rapids anybody knew about dates of oath in grand rapids thanks for help

3 months waiting for IL is uncommon in Dallas area these days...most people received IL in 3 weeks after FP is done.

Do you have any common names? Are you from middle east? Did you travel to any countries or transferred money to countries that are on terror watch list? like Syria or Afghan etc. One of these things would delay complete background check...there is another thread on this topic..search

There are 2 level of checks once we give our FP. The background check is usually be cleared within 24 hours by FBI and then the second level check name check (or whatever it is called) will be initiated...when they tell u that your background check is cleared ...they don't usually tell you that the 2nd one has been initiated or completed...because they dont have access to that information.....as far as I know this second level check is for name check (whatever)...

When you call next time, verify with the 2nd level IO that all checks are cleared....

Staying in different states doesn't mean that you have multiple files that need to be consolidated...it is only for people with multiple A#s...

If you don't have multiple A#s....then you can rule out that multiple states residency as the cause for the delay....

Take an InfoPass and talk to IO at the Irving office to see if you're really in the Q for interview and verify that they have everything at their Irving office. This would clear some doubts.

Just FYI: You may want to look in this angle too:
there has been one case where USCIS lost the permanent file for one member...then USCIS had to merge with the temp one or something...this caused some delays....search this forum for that thread...

One Question Dallas987:

You sent a Private Message to me on June 20th and told me that you went for early FP on June 20th.

But in this thread, you are saying you finished your FP 3 months ago. Which one is true?

hey milk,

My room mate and I have both applied for N400. The question sent to you last week was for his FP. He has gone in for FP last week I am still stuck in the waiting game.

Thank you for the advice. I do not have multiple A#'s and I do not have a common name. I have an infopass appointment next week. I will post what happens.
