Hi, so I got my fingerprinting notice but the day they have given me I'll be out of town. I have requested a Saturday appointment, and this is for the Oakland, CA office.

How much longer can I expect to wait until I my next fingerprinting appointment?

I have rescheduled FP a few times. You should get the new appointment letter within 30-45 days.

In my case they didn't even ask about the orignal. When you get the rescheduled appointment letter return it along with a copy of the notice that you get stamped after completion of FP.

I just got my fingerprint notice for 9:00 AM on 12/30 at the Fort Worth application support center but I'm out of the country that week. Does anyone know when the best time to attempt a walk-in is? Can one try it before the original scheduled date and then simply send off the reschedule request if the walk-in attempt fails. The rescheduling request only seems to allow a reschedule to Wednesday or Saturday afternoons. Are these times reserved for reschedules only, in which case they may also be good drop-in times?

Bring the letter with you and try it on the day at your convenience at the time during the lighter work load of the day, such as afternoon. Also bring evidence (e.g., air ticket, if any) to show the time conflict upon requested. If they don't allow you to do so, you can always mail the reschedule request. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, but it didn't work. :-)

I decided to try immediately so I went to the ASC this afternoon but was told that fingerprints can only be done as per your appointment since the details are all in the computer and can't be changed. However, I could tell from the demeanor of the security troll manning the front desk (who was busy blowing his gum while talking to me) that he would have made up any excuse to avoid having someone disturb his lazy afternoon, so I'm not sure if what he said has any element of truth to it or not. The ASC itself was virtually empty - there were two people in the process of being fingerprinted and no one else waiting.
