Hi all,
So I had my individual hearing last week, and in my opinion it didn't go too well. At the end of the hearing I expected one of two things: the IJ's decision on the case or a future date to return for the decision. So the latter happened but I have a problem with the date set...in May!!! I have to wait three months to find out whether or not asylum has been granted. I'd like to hear from anyone else who has been in the same situation. Is this time period unusual? I've heard of people having to return to court in 2 or 4 weeks for the decision. Initially, I was glad that the judge hadn't denied my case outright at the end of the hearing...so I was hopeful that the decision may be positive. I'm having doubts now and am seriously thinking of leaving to seek asylum in Canada. What do you guys think?
Thanks,
