H4 Visa stamping in Mumbai but passport issued in Patna?

I dont think it matters where your passport is from, I think you can go and stamp it anywhere, Mumbai or Calcutta, doesnt matter.

Actually I saw following information which is posted on Visa Services web site (http://visa-services.com/index.html):
You can apply for a non-immigrant US visa through the US Consulate in Mumbai provided you meet any of the conditions mentioned below:
1. You have been resident of the Indian States of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh for the last 6 months.
2. You are residing in the US, and your last US visa was issued by the US Consulate in Mumbai.
3. You are a ship crew applying for a C1/D visa through a shipping company or agency based in Mumbai.
4. You are a permanent resident of Western India or have been working in Western India for more than a year and want to apply for a student visa.
I got confused because none of the above condition is met by my fiancee...?

Call them up then...
Hmm... that could be an issue then, but you can always ask your fiancee to go personally or call up the Mumbai consulate and have her explain the situation to them, they have an enquiry counter, and so she or you can enquire from them and find out from them what to do. If they say to go to Calcutta, then you would have to do so, no matter what. If you're in the US you could call up the INS customer service and ask them.

I contacted Visa Services (http://www.visa-services.com) and according to them my fiancee can apply from Mumbai consulate also.

----- that is correct, becase YOU are H1B holder and you are from Pune and you got your H1 from Bombay are under US consulate Bombay and your wife is eligble to get it from Bombay

Dilemma on H1 Revalidation and on H4
hi all out there in Immigarionportal.com
i have my visa on the passport until 2006 with company A. Now very recently i
have transfered my I797(H1 status) , with company B.
Now that i am visiting India this year, do i need to revalidate my VISA
again from a US consulate with company B ? my 2nd question is because of this issue(having company A's name on passport/VISA and company B's name on new H1 approval notice I797),what would be the impact on obtaining a new H4 Visa(i am getting married)? i understand that for H4,these both new I797 and passport/VISA(with 2 different companies) are mandatory documents .
what all additional docs are required to obtain a H4 incase of these kind of scenarios?
Please let me know. i am greatful to all of you guys out there helping
so many people like us.

--- If you have valid Visa stamp when you want to enter US no need to get new Visa stamp, just show passport Visa stamp AND new H1 approval at POE and you will get I-94 validity till H1 approval notice, Check your I-94 date at POE and if found incorrect point out to POE offier or ask for supervisor

---search the threads , same documents from YOUR side as if you are getting H1, ask your wife to provide what they ask, they will ask for H1 notice your H1 petition certifed by your lawyer who filed H1 with USCIS form I-129+LCA + employer letter that you are working with them, your passport pages, W-2, may also ask your paystubs. copy of marriage certificate, marriage photographs.

And Because of few unknowing reasons, she is not living with him and infact my friend does not even know the whereabouts of her.Now his parents have decided to marry him off again.
Now his problem is can he get a new H4 visa for his new wife(mind you he had brought his 1st wife 2yrs ago)?
What is the procedure for obtaining a new H4 in this scenario? is the procedure same like obtaining a normal H4?

well he will have to divorce his first wife and show proof of that.
only one marriage is recognised at a time, so evidence of all previous marriages having being nulled has to be shown. in any case for his second marriage to be legal he has to divorce his first wife.
He should remarry only after the divorce has already taken place. Take all the documents pertaning to divorce and the new marriage to theconsulate for H4.

guys,referrring to the earlier posting above, does a spouse HAVE to apply from mumbai because the principal applicant got his h1 from mumbai or can she have chose delhi or calcutta too based on the distance to home?
