H4 Visa at Mumbai Consulate

Hi all !!

This is reg. the H4 Visa at the Mumbai Consulate office. Can I get an online appt. for the Visa to be obtained next month (Jan last week). Also, my spouse's passport would have to be updated. Is it possible to obtain an online appt. without the new passport no. Any recent experiences in this matter would help.

Also, how many days does it take to apply for a new passport in Mumbai passport to obtain the new passport? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

u need to check time required to obtain new pp with Indian authorities in Mumbai.
I suggest you[or somebody on applicants behalf] personally visit VFS offices in Mumbai/Pune etc as getting an earlier appt is possible by making personal visit compared to online appt.
 
Another question reg. new passport for the spouse. I have info. that it is now taking abt. 10 - 14 days to get a new passport. In case, H4 Visa is applied based on the old passport, what is the procedure to apply for a new passport in the US? Also, any impacts on the GC processing for the spouse. Recent experiences would greatly help.

--one can apply renewal or get new passport from Indian consulate, check the site of nearest Indian consulate, FYI NYC consulate gives you passport next day if send by post it takes 5-8 days
Also, any impacts on the GC processing for the spouse.
----- no problem becase of passport change or renewal
Recent experiences would greatly help.
