H4 to H1 Transfer while applying for H4 extension

My wife is currently on H4 and my H1 and her H4 are expiring in July 2007. The lawyer applied for extension for myself and my wife's H4. Meanwhile she applied for her H1 and I am now told that she got her H1 approved. How does the transfer from H4 to H1 happen now ? Will she be eligible to work from Oct 1st and am assuming that I-94 on her H1B will say so. Is that correct ? Or do we have to contact the USCIS ?

I believe last action rules her status. If H4 is apporoved later, her H4 overrides H1, She needs to get h1 stamp before Oct 1.
