H4 to H1 Conversion Question

Hi,

My wife converted her H4 ( she entered in US on h4 ) to H1 after being in US for 1 year. Does the H1 that she got is for another 6 years or the time spent in H4 counts in the 6 year limit ?

time spent of H4 counts towards the H1 ...so she has 5 yesra on H1 ...

total time on H visa should be 6 years ....

can I change back to OPT?

I only used my first 6-month OPT and then changed from F1 to H1-B. Now I got laid off, could I apply for another 6-month OPT and legally stay in U.S.? Thanks a lot!

OPT is for practical training immediately after a graduation. Since you have done a H1 transfer my opinion is that you cannot do another OPT. U need to complete another graduation before taking on another OPT.
U can do a H1 transfer though...
