H4 to F1 visa

Hello:

Currently, I am on H4 visa and was thinking to be converted to F1 visa inorder to avail the advantage of the OPT.

In order to satisfy my graduate program I have to satisfy 32 credits and currently I have done with 27 credits and just left out with 5 more credits. Now, I am thinking to apply for F1 visa. I just wanted to know can I apply for my F1 visa just taking 4 credits this Fall 2006 semester (because of unavailibility of 1 credit during this fall semester) and 1 credit in Winter 2007 In this case can I get my F1 visa approved.

Since, my spouse's labor certification (GC) is waiting to be get approved, is there any problem applying for my F1 visa.
Any other suggestion are welcome.

PS: Inorder to qualify for OPT at my university, I have to be a fulltime student for 2 consecutive semesters. (I was full time student in Winter 2006 and Summer 2006).

Thanks in advance

To start with, meet your international advisor/Counselor. He/she is the one who is going to sign your app & mention the date till which you should be given the F1. It's important that you be given sufficient time for applying & getting approval for your OPT.
This'll not affect your gc process.
goodluck.

Thanks in advance

not sure on this...I would suggest getting this confirmed thru official source.
When we approached the advisor, was not told that one would be ineligible if one is not on F1...we were told that we need to be fulltime student for 2 consecutive semesters (I think not including summer).
So, it should be fine if it's H4 earlier & F1 currently.
