My wife has received EAD based on my pending 485 application. I understand that she can apply for social security number at local soc. sec. office. The fact that she applied for soc. sec. # and received one change her status from H4 to "pending AOS"? She is not planning to use EAD at all but remain on H4 but would be very useful to have a social sec # for developing credit history etc.
