H4-H1 approved : how long can one delay starting job?

hi Gurus,

My h4 - h1b is approved with start date of Jan 12.

But due to my health reasons in the family I can not join employer before Feb 28. Employer is fine with the absence.

But I would like to know is there any visa status problem with this.

Do I need to join company and then take leave.
Or I should just delay joining but is it equivalent of going out of status.

Please suggest I will appreciate your help.

Hi,
I am also looking for info on this question. My wife got H1 approved, but may have to postpone the joining till mid Feb. We are going ahead with SS#, hoping that we can get it before mid Feb. But what worries me is the legal status if she doesnt join the job after getting the SS#.

i have got the same querry as well.what is the max time you can stay .i.e is there any specific time period with in which you have to enter US after your approval date of H1 ??

It's not the best to delay the start, but if you really want to do that, 1 or 2 months should not be serious issue UNLESS you tried to change job soon after that.
