H1b - Visa Renewal

Hi,
My Current H1b petition is valid till Sep,2009 and I am going to complete my first 3 years of h1b visa by sep, 2009. I would like to know how many months before I have to apply for renewal of my H1b petition.

They'll accept the petition 6 months prior to the new starting date.

Your employer can file H1 extension 6 months before your I-94 expiry date.
