H1B transfer from nonprofit to for-profit organization

Hi,

I am currently on H-1B at a non-profit organization (ends May 31,2007). I am planning on moving to a private company (for profit organization), if possible immediately. What is the procedure for the H-1B transfer? Do I come under the H1B cap quota? If so, could someone please tell me the current status for this year? Has the quota already been reached for this year? So if I want to move over to that company, what should I do? Any advice would be very helpful.

You can not file H1B this year as all the quota was gone.
You can apply next April.

Thanks for the reply. So are you saying that I DO come under the quota for my situation?

Can we apply now itself and just be in the waiting list or do they start accepting applications only in April ?

Yes.

They start accepting petition only after April.
