H1B Renewal

I am applying for my 3yr renewal for H1B1 and want to know
1. My current H1B is expiring on 31 Dec 2007.
Will I be assumed in H1B1 status in case my petition is not approved before 31 Dec 2007 and I have the receipt for renewal.

2. How long I will remain in H1B status in case my petition is not approved before or on 31 Dec 2007? is it 240 days or untill decision is made on my petition?

3. My I-485 is pending for last 1yr. Is it going to affect my renewal petition for H1B1?

-------------------once file H1 extension you are in status file H1 EXT NOW one can file 6 months before I-94 expiry date
