H1B holder, GC pending, Want to apply for Canadian PR

Hi,
I am an H1B holder still in the Labor Cert stage of the Green Card process. My job situation is quite shaky as a result of the weak economy and there is no saying what might happen and when. I would like to remain in North America if possible and for this purpose would like to apply for a Canadian PR. I have the foll questions:

1. Is it legal to have two applications (one for the US and one for Canada) being processed at the same time.

2. I want to send my fingerprints to the FBI in order to obtain police clearance for Canadian PR. I will (hopefully) be engaging in a similar process for the GC process. Will the FBI notify the INS that I have already asked for a fingerprint assessment for purposes of Canadian PR and will this affect my chances for the GC ?

Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

No Title

I do not know FBI and INS, but I got the fingerprinter results from FBI. I am in I-485

It does not matter, it is perfectly legal to apply for Can PR and

US green card at the same time. Later it may become a problem if
you try to maintain both PRs.
ANd the FBI does not keep tabs on who sends them finger prints,
anyone with a record will hardly do that kind of stuff :) not just
once by twice !!! relax

I was told by someone at misc.immigration.canada newsgroup...that

the FBI might try to inform the INS that I have already asked for police clearance for Canadian immigration and this will jeopardise my chances for a US greencard.. is this scenario at all possible.

Thanks for ur responses in advance.
Cheers

it is possible

however dont you think that they have better things to do.
The INS wants to know if you had a criminal record, the fbi will
run the check and say yes/no. They dont conduct an investigation !
there are hundereds of people who have got both canadian and US PR
at the same time...the misc.imm.canada board is made up of canadian
immigration consultants that are keen on scaring customers in to
the canadian PR process.
