H1B Extension Options

I hope somebody can help me with info. I have H1B visa which has been extended for 5.5 years. It is expiring in October 2007. I also worked outside of US over last 5.5 years for total of 6 consecutive months in Europe. I would like to extend my visa for an additional year after October 2007 and I was wondering if I can do so? If I combine the 6 months extension left I have before reacing the maximum of 6 years on my H1B and add the 6 months I've been working outside of US can I achieve 1 more year of extension?

If not, can I change to another type of visa, like L1 to extend passed the 5.5 years I have used up so far on my H1B?

Any other suggestions of how to extend H1B for up to a 6.5 years are welcome.

Kind Thanks

H1 to l1 is not possible in your case.
Did you file your LC?

sorry but what does LC stand for?

Is it possible to subtract the 6 months I've been working outside of US while still holding the H1B visa and get that extension? I also received H1B for 5.5 years only, does that mean I can still extend for the additional 6 months left?

My uderstanding is that it is not possible to subtract the 6 months even if you have been working outside of US. Your lawer can help in this matter.
