H1b Experience at Border for Canadian Citizens (current TN)

Hi, I am currently on TN visa and have a H1B petition which was approved in Oct 2021 (I didn't change status to H1B). I have been working on TN visa ever since. Now I want to change to H1B to file a green card application. Do you see any issues for me at the border? Can the agents ask me why I didn't activate H1B for almost 2 years? Anything particular documents I should bring with me in addition to the petition?

At a minimum you would need a letter from your employer stating that you are still employed (with TN).

Are you sure you were not automatically flipped to H1-B in October 2021? Most who petition for H1-B while currently employed in TN, get the I-94 attached to their approval (since they are already in country) , and need do nothing to switch to H1-B.

Btw. sorry your employer has waited unnecessarily to beging your GC process. They should have started it years ago without even bothering with H1-B.
