H1B Approval Shredded by Dog -- HELP !!!

I have an interview appointment with the US consulate to apply for a new H1B (FY2006) next November 8, 2005. However, the US mail envelope containing my H-1B approval was found shredded in pieces in front of the house last Sept. 05. The postman dropped the envelope in the front, and my dog chewed and shredded it into pieces.

I notified my employer in the US. They said that they will be faxing me a copy of my H1B approval they happen to have in the office.

Is a faxed copy of the H1B approval good enough to apply for a visa? Will I need the original because of the I-94 part? I have an email from USCIS saying that appropriate American Consulate was notified by cable, telephone, or fax of the approval of my H1B case.

I have also gathered all the shredded pieces of the H1B approval to show the consular officer. But I am afraid that even if the US consulate approves my H1B visa, I may need the original when entering the US.

Any ideas or advices?

Thanks,

Rubens.

You do not need to have an original to enter into the US. If embassy can get convinced with shredded pieces and a copy from US, you will get your visa. Once you get the visa stamped, your problem solved. Otherwise yuor employer has to apply fo a duplicate original , it may take 3 to 6 months some time.

First and foremost ask your company to get you a duplicate approval notice...You should get that in about 1-2 months time.

Next ... I think you have no choice but to appear for the consulate interview...I think your case seems to be very genuine... You should be ok ....

Also search this forum for any situation like yours ....

Good luck to you and all the best

3-4 years back, we lost original approved H4 in the mail and called NSC to send us the duplicate approval notice and i got it with in 2 weeks.

My H1B was processed by TSC (Texas Service Center). Does anyone have experience requesting a H1B approval duplicate from the TSC? I have read somewhere that it may take more than 2 months to have a duplicate issued by TSC.
