H1B 20k Quota

can anyone tell how many h1b's r remaining under 20k quota and where can i find latest information on this? Can you please provide me the link?

if my opt expires Oct2nd 2006 would I be eligible for the FY 07 cap?

I don't know if I understand your question correctly.
OPT validity and H1 quota is totally different matter. You are always eligible to new H1 quota unless you already spent 6 years with H1 recently.

Ok here's the question.

I have an OPT that started Oct 3rd 2005 and is valid till Oct 2nd 2006. Ppl were telling me that this is a good date since the quota starts oct 1st every year.

Now I know I am eligible for the FY06 quota and I also know that there are only about 5000 visas left in the 20K for FY06. Since my OPT officially ends 1 day after the quota begins I wanna know if I am also eligible to apply for the FY07 quota in which case I would be really happy if not then I have to hustle for the FY06 quota.
