h1 vs EAD

I am on H1 and have still 1.2 years left on H1.
I am about to renew my EAD,
my attorney advised me to tell my employer(who holds the H1) to
include my EAD henceforth.
Does it nullify my H1 then -if I start working on EAD instead of H1 with the same employer.

What are the advantages of switching to EAD?
Is it safe to be with H1 till I get my GC..

thanks,

even though you renew your EAD, your H1 won't become void unless and untill you use your EAD to work with the same employer. And since you have more than a year left on your H1, stay on H1. ANd above all you are going to work with the same employer , so better work on H1 but don't forget to renew your EAD. If your attorney is charging you any fee for EAD, then you can file on your own

EAD Advantages:
Keep one just in case you get laid off from this current company for any reason. You could then join another company rightaway and not go thru the hassle of begging them for H1 filing (which they may not do).

Disadvantages in using EAD:
You would go out of status if the I-485 is denied for any reason.

Holding an EAD is NOT equal to using EAD. If you are working on a valid H1 issued by your GC-sponsored company, continue on H1 as long as you can. There is no need to go on EAD. If you notify the employer and get on their payroll as an EAD holder, your H1 will be invalid.

Stay where you are ie. on H1. God Luck!
