H1 VISA holder needs to travel to UK

I couldn't find any board where my query would fall..apologies for misspost!!!

Basically, I need to travel to UK for around 1 week in January. I was curious as to how do I do this? I'm holding a valid H1B and wanted to apply for a UK tourist VISA From New York!!! Can someone point me to any resource that can help me proceed?

Also, I heard that US VISA holders dont have any problems getting UK tourist VISA issued. Is this true?

You need to check British embassy DC site or British Consulate NYC. You have to submit your application online then you have to will have to go for fingerprints (with copy of printout that you submitted online) then you have to send the copy of application (the printout of online application) that is stamped by ASC. To get fingerprints it may take 10-15 days and then Visa stamping.

I see. Its pretty straightforward in that case. The documentation makes a statement regarding a sponsor letter even in the case of Tourist Visa!!! Is this necessary even when you hold a valid us visa?
