My friend is changing jobs from one consulting company to another. He has an offer letter from the new company and they have applied for H1 transfer for him today, i.e. the transfer documents are on the way to the INS. When can he inform the old company? Also when can he start working in the new job with just the Fedex reciepts or does he need the INS notice? How long does it take for H1 transfer? The contract he signed with the consulting company talks of a 15 day notice, does he need to give that much time because the new company wants him on the project ASAP. I thought all employment in US was "At Will". Will this come in his way of the H1 transfer?
