H1 transfer without joining previous company

Hi,

I was on f1 visa as a student and my OPT started on september 1st 2007.
But I also had an H1B approved for company A which started on october 1st 2007.I am not on the payroll of company A yet as I got another job offer from company B which is going to apply for my H1 transfer on 8th october on a premium processing.

I want to know if it is going to be problem as I am already one week in the H1 status and not yet on the payroll as I did not join that company?

Also If I get rejected for the H1 transfer, Can I still join company A or will I be out of status.

Please help .
