My wife and me are currently on H1 visas valid till 2009. She wants to give up her job for personal reasons and transfer back to an H-4 status on which she came to the USA originally. What forms do i need to fill and would we need to provide a marriage certificate again and pay stubs for her? I have heard this is an easier process. Should i consult a lawyer?

What forms do i need to fill
-----------------------I-539 (you dont need to fill She need to fill and file, She is changing the status not you)
and would we need to provide a marriage certificate again
-----------YES and copy of YOUR H1 approval notice and copy of YOUR valid I-94(front and back) copy of her H1, copy of her I-94 (front and back). she need to fill up form I-539, pay the fees and sign the form
and pay stubs for her? I have heard this is an easier process. Should i consult a lawyer?
