H1 temporary transfer situation

Hello,
I currently hold a university H1B and I'm planning to shift to a corporate company soon. I was not aware that this case of H1 transfer will come under the CAP. My question is -
if I transfer to a company (A) immediately from my currrent academic job, for the sake of avoiding cap in fiscal 2006 (before Oct 2005). So I can start working in company A as soon as I receive the H1 application receipt. Then I take more time fishing for the company (B) of my choice and transfer from A to B. In the latter transfer case I'm guessing I wouldn't be counted against the cap as the initial transfer from university to company A was counted previously against the cap.

My question is, when transferring from corporate company A to B, do I need to wait till I receive the H1 approval document for transferring from university to company A, before I shift to company B? Or is the H1 cap counted once when I just receive the receipt of H1 transfer from university to A, in which case I can apply for transferring to B immediately after transferring to A. In this case transfer to B won't be counted against the cap?

Is there a minimum period for which I have to work in A before transferring to B for the transfer from university to A to be registered as a first count against the cap?

Thanks VERY much in advance for the info

CAP status for FY 2006

Does anybody have an idea about the current H1 quota as it stands for FY 2006? Appx number that's filled up by now including the 20000 for MS based applicants.
Thanks

Approximately 26,000 H1b towards 2006 quota.

On 20,000 MS category about 7000 got filled so far.

Thanks Great guru
When you say 26000, is it quota filled or quota left for FY 2006?
Also the 7000 MS quota is for FY 2006? I thought this quota was released in May 2005, which would count towards FY 2005. Starting Oct 2005, there should be a fresh quota of 20000 right (which can be filled since April 2005 in theory). I heard that the 20000 released in May 2005 is not yet filled to date.

So what you are saying is, inspite of FY 2005 quota not being filled FY 2006 quota is getting filled for the 20000 category?
Thanks!

Hi Great Guru! Firstly thanks a lot for the valuable info
A last question (hopefully). Based on your experience when do you think the quota will close for FY 2006 (considering both 65000 + 20000 for 2006)?

Will companies sponsor H1 after Oct 2005 (if quota is not closed for 2006)?

I'm asking bcoz it might take a few months to find the company I'm looking for. If the quota is not closing by Oct 2005 (FY 2006 quota) I might take the luxury of a couple more months to find the dream job.

Again, thanks very much for your help!
