H1 revalidation.

My passport has exactly 6 months to expire and I have to revalidate H1. Can we renew passport 8 months ahead of validity. any input appreciated.

u mean 8 months before first visa expirs?

No. You cannot. Better get a new passport since you do not want to be in limboland after 6 months. Then apply for revalidation(with both passports)

Better to get new passport

My passport was expiring in 8 months and my visa less than 2 months. So I renewed my passport first (8 months ahead), then sent in both old and new passports for the visa stamp application. The revalidation didn\'t take any longer than usual.
