H1 receipt notice

My current H1 expires in about 10 days and H1 extension was filed on 9/8/04 at CSC. The lawyer has not yet received the receipt notices. Do you guys know if H1 receipt is required as proof of H1 application submission before current H1 expires?

My Attorney informed me that if it is premium processing then sometimes they do not rec. Notices Otherwise it takes 10 days to get a receipt. But back to your question, you might need some proof that your application was filed in time to remain in status. I would ask the attorney to verify whether the application was rec. by INS on time.

You do not need any proof

Ask your attorney. whether he had received the certificate of post acknowledgement card. That is the proof (until youreceive the receipt notice from INS) , that your attorney has applied your extension. Receipt may take some time more than a month for CSC. If it is a premium process you will get receipt with in a week if any RFE they will send by fax to your attorney.
